"Guéladio Cissé"

cisseProf. Dr. Guéladio Cissé is a sanitary engineer; environmental scientist and environmental health researcher, holding a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). His PhD research was on "Health Impact Assessment of Wastewater Reuse in Urban Agriculture in Sahelian Context". Since then he has conducted various projects in different contexts, and has been involved in teachings and committees related to safe wastewater management. His main positions held over 29 years of experience were successively Head of the National Service of Hygiene and Sanitation at the Ministry of Health in Mauritania (5 years), Project leader, Lecturer and Head of the Sanitary Engineering Department at the Inter-States Engineering School in Burkina Faso (6 years), Regional Coordinator in West Africa for an International Scientific Partnership Program on Mitigating Syndromes of Global Change for Sustainable Development (8 years), Director General of the Swiss Center for Scientific Research in Côte d'Ivoire (5 years). He is currently research group leader within the Ecosystem Health Sciences Unit, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (an associated Institute of the University of Basel, Switzerland). He has fulfilled assignments for teaching from different universities in Africa and Switzerland and as keynote speaker at several international conferences.
